The Human Tissue Authority

Finance Manager

£42,000 - £52,000

Hybrid - 1 day per month in the office (Stratford)

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. They also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those they regulate at the centre of their work, they aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, with proper consent.

There is now an exciting opportunity to join this fascinating organisation. As Finance Manager you will be integral to the smooth running of the finance function, with a broad set of responsibilities and a small but supportive team. The post holder will manage the Finance Assistant whilst reporting to the Head of Finance giving this role a wide remit.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts with analysis and reconciliations.
  • Contributing to the closure of final accounts.
  • Undertaking financial analysis to support HTA initiatives.
  • Ensuring timely payments and transactions are made and cash and fixed asset records are correctly reported.
  • Leading, mentoring and empowering the Finance Assistant to take on transactional responsibilities and take ownership of their work.

This is a great post for someone with a range of experience in different areas of finance, ready to hit the ground running and make an impact on a vital organisation. Experience within government or public sector finance is not vital but it is desirable. Applicants should have progressed towards the final stages of a CCAB or CIMA qualification and study support for completing this qualification can be offered by HTA. Also included in the package is the NHS Penson Scheme, 32.5 days annual leave, and flexible hybrid working to suit individuals' preferred working hours.

To apply, please email a CV and supporting statement to Jack Cox at Allen Lane by Sunday 8th September.
