Prototype Formulation Technologist

As a Prototype Formulation Technologist you will help deliver brand and category plans for Skincare. You will use your scientific and technical formulation expertise to develop formulations from idea to proven technology / asset.

Based in our Nottingham Technical Centre, this is a full-time, permanent laboratory-based role.

About the role

Working in the Prototyping Team and reporting to the Prototyping Formulation Manager, you will be part of the wider Formulation/Product Development Team in the R&D and Supply Chain function of the No7 Beauty Company.

You will work with other Formulation Technologists, Technicians and Raw Material Specialists from your own team, as well as Formulators, Testing, Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Packaging and Project Managers from other teams.

  • Formulation of skincare prototypes.
  • Delivers projects to agreed cost, QSR standards and timings.
  • Drives a culture of scientific excellence based on structured experimental plans and critical evaluation of technical data.
  • Can innovate technical solutions for complex problems, interpret scientific information into valid conclusions and articulate clear business recommendations.
  • Accountable for owning and managing the project formulation timings and technical risks that impact on delivery.
  • Build an excellent collaborative network with Research and Product delivery colleagues and be a key point of contact for manufacturing partners and raw material suppliers.
  • Design and prepare and Prototyping consumer studies.
  • Be an integral part of delivering wider Prototyping Team and Formulation Team initiatives.

What you'll need to have

The successful candidate will have a background in Cosmetic Formulation, with at least 2 years' experience of skincare formulation or similar cosmetics formulation experience.

In addition, the successful candidate will be able to:

  • work collaboratively.
  • show sound scientific thinking and methodology.
  • Communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It would be great if you also have

Desirable but not essential skills:

  • A degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific degree.
  • Completion of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Diploma in Cosmetic Science.
  • Experience of patent searching.
  • Awareness of Cosmetics Regulatory landscape.
  • Experience of Suncare/SPF formulation
