Salary: £29.4k - £30.7k per annum (dependent on location) - Plus bonus on completion of Apprenticeship

We provide a structured programme to give you the right balance of on job and college-based specialist technical training, ensuring you have everything you need to build a successful future in the energy industry.

What you'll need

  • At least 3 GCSEs in Maths, English and a Science ( Grades A - C / 9 - 4)
  • Full clean Manual UK Driving License - or actively working towards a full driving license
  • Motivation to develop new skills and grow a career within SGN
  • A friendly and approachable attitude when working as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Comfortable with technology (for using field-based systems)
  • Commitment to 3 years of training and education, some of which may take place away from your home location (we will arrange travel and accommodation)

What you'll learn and achieve

  • Installation of gas meters and regulators
  • How to respond to reported gas emergencies
  • Installation and maintenance of gas networks
  • Promoting health and safety in gas service/repair activities
  • Gas Network Craftsperson standard (ST0205)

How your learning works

You will attend college on a 'block' release basis over your 3 years, building skills and knowledge as you progress through your learning. You will be supported by a dedicated programme manager, mentor, and line manager. Our current and previous apprentices will also provide the perfect support network and drawing from their personal experiences will provide you guidance and assistance from the very start of your journey with SGN. There will be no stopping you as you work towards in learning and safely responding to public reported gas emergencies.

Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will have achieved the Gas Network Craftsperson standard (ST0205), which will support you moving forward with your career at SGN.
