Location: West Midlands (Hybrid working)

Salary- 65k-75k subject to experience and qualifications.

The Organisation

Our client is an independent scaffolding company that covers Birmingham and the surrounding areas. They specialise in design, housing, construction, and maintenance. Working with national tier 1 contractors, and regional contractors across residential and commercial projects. Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team and contribute to their commitment to excellence in project estimation.

About the role

As an Estimator within this independent scaffolding company, you'll play a pivotal role in accurately assessing project costs, analysing blueprints, and preparing detailed estimates. You'll collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids and successful project execution. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for construction, then this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities will include:

Understanding the project/program and its requirements: Ability to thoroughly comprehend the details and scope of the construction project design that they are assessing. This involves understanding the client's needs, project/design specifications, and any unique requirements.Determining key variables for cost and other estimates: Identify the critical factors that impact project costs. These variables may include labour, materials, equipment, and other resources needed for successful completion.
Gathering first-hand information from design spec, sites, warehouses, or other venues: Estimators collect data directly from project sites, warehouses, or other relevant locations. This information helps them make accurate assessments and estimates.In addition to these core responsibilities, estimators also perform tasks such as conducting research, analysing data, reviewing subcontractor quotes, and creating estimate reports. They collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure projects stay within budget constraints and meets quality standards.

What you will need to succeed

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Estimator of which 2 years should have been gained within the scaffolding and access sector.
  • Competence in using Microsoft office, and ideally Strike scaffold design software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and codes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
