Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Technical Support team for a Technical Support Engineer Specialist. This is a home-based role with the need to travel to Kent once a month.

The Technical Support team are responsible for the testing and validation of inkjet products and systems performance including hardware, software and ink. As part of this team, you will undertake a programme of training, working alongside the current specialists to learn how to provide a full understanding of the functionality and application capability of all equipment and inks in the range.

With an understanding of digital print operation or experience of Wide Format Inkjet printing technology and printer applications you will have a desire to learn, demonstrable problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and well organised with excellent communication skills.

The role requires candidates to be flexible in their approach and be prepared to travel extensively within the UK and overseas.

Role Requirements

  • Deliver timely expert 2nd and 3rd line escalation support to 1st line support organisations professionally and in accordance with service level agreements
  • Support in the installation of new machines
  • Fully understand the functionality and capability of all products
  • Research new technologies within the product range to develop procedures and training materials to assist product training activity
  • Establish effective working relationships and networks within the group Engineering & Application Teams to ensure knowledge and best practice is shared openly
  • Investigate and report failure mode cause and effect
  • Assist with supporting product documentation, training requirements and distribution of technical support information
  • Respond to requests for print samples and to carry out demonstrations of equipment both face to face and remotely
  • Complete validations on new equipment and ink ranges
  • Identify potential opportunities to improve work processes, tools and systems to streamline workflows

Candidate requirements

  • Ideally degree level qualification or similar, preferably in an engineering or scientific discipline
  • Ideally field based technical support experience on R2R wide format inkjet equipment
  • With a positive proactive approach to work you will have the ability to make effective and timely decisions
  • Engineering know-how of Wide Format Inkjet (WFIJ) principles and systems
  • Competent on Mac or PC, with a good comprehension of the OS, Microsoft products
  • Must be able to interact with equipment manufacturers preferably at product design stage through to validation
  • Strong verbal communication skills including report writing
  • Full driving licence
