We are working with a food manufacturing organization who are looking for a finance assistant to join their team. This role involves handling both Accounts Receivable and Payable functions, dealing with daily purchase and sales ledger tasks, and all aspects of invoicing. This position offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process purchase ledger invoices and ensure regular ledger checking to match suppliers' ledgers and resolve any anomalies.
  • Review and minimise the on-hold file by liaising with colleagues and suppliers regularly.
  • Manually match stock invoices to PO received list and process them.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts and resolve management queries through general ledger analysis.
  • Post and allocate cheque and BACS payments in all relevant currencies to customer accounts.
  • Resolve all sales ledger queries within a 24-hour turnaround.
  • Check PODs against the system weekly to aid timely resolution of queries.
  • Raise manual invoices/credit notes, including backing documents on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare the final period-end Aged Debt report for year-end audit and process monthly statements to each customer.
  • Update sales and receipt figures for weekly cash flow and assist with Purchase Ledger and holiday cover for Cash Book.
  • Complete Supplier Statement reconciliations within 5 working days of receipt.
  • Conduct credit checks on new and existing customers and process staff expenses from receipt to entry on the purchase ledger.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from other members of the finance team as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in generating invoices and maintaining accounts receivable files and records.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate working under pressure with good attention to detail.
  • Proficient in intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Sage 200 is essential.
