Head of People

Summary

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of People to lead and develop the HR function. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective management of 500 dedicated colleagues and maintaining compliance within the regulated industry.

This role is fully office based, working Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, or 8:30am - 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's goals and mission. Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team and ensure best practices in all HR functions.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to all relevant regulations, including maintaining accurate records, preparing for inspections, and implementing any required changes.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Oversee the recruitment process to attract and retain top talent with the Recruitment Advisor. Develop strategies to improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Performance Management: Implement and manage effective performance management systems. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance staff skills and performance.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Address and resolve employee issues and conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Policy Development: Develop and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice. Communicate policies clearly to all staff.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Monitor and report on HR metrics to senior management. Use data to inform strategic decisions and improve HR processes.
  • Training and Development: Oversee the development and implementation of training programs to ensure all staff are properly trained and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the company complies with all health and safety regulations and that staff are trained and aware of their responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head of HR or similar senior HR role, preferably in a heavily regulated sector.
  • Proactive and keen to have a hands-on HR approach, maintaining the inclusive culture that is already in place.
  • In-depth knowledge of audit and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that support business goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent is desirable.
