Quantity Surveyor
Location: Rickmansworth
Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 per annum reflecting your experience level (pro rata'd to reflect time input)
Our client is a well-established cost and construction project management consultancy, growing due to continued success in the high end residential and bespoke development commercial marketplace.
The Role
This part-time role includes performing a wide range of tasks including:
- Helping prepare budgets or cost plans (and supporting other team members doing so)
- Tendering, contract preparation
- Contract Administration (including providing cost for variations, raising certification, completion of final accounts)
- Accompanying administrative support to other CLPM team members.
The work will be mostly based from offices currently in Rickmansworth but the motivation and self-discipline to work remotely from home and visit site when required is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Budgets & Cost Plans
- Preparation of Budgets / cost plans
- Process management of budgets to external agencies
Tendering and Cost Control
- Preparing construction cost documentation (tender packs, and financial reports)
- When requested to do so, attending site to meet clients / contractors with the Project Manager
- Work with the Project Managers and clients in the valuation / payment process, assessing Applications for Payment and providing Payments Certificate to contractors and clients'
Supplier Management
- Working with other members of the Commercial team in creation and maintenance of a rates database
- Checking pricing and negotiating with suppliers and contractors
- Ensure the contract procurement, valuation and final account processes are administered in a timely & effective manner
Other Commercial
- Early identification of commercial risk and the ability to produce a robust mitigation strategy
- Attend project meetings as required
- Ensure the Company Health and Safety safe working practices are observed at all times
Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 years + experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in a consultancy or with a main contractor or residential home builder.
- Appropriate technical, legal and commercial knowledge. Strong knowledge of JCT suite of contracts (Minor Works, Intermediate and Design & Build Essential)
- Strong commercial awareness and a focus on results with excellent attention to detail and production of accurate work
- Effective time management and advanced Excel skills capable of linking spreadsheets, graphical reports, lookup formulae and analysis
- Ability to commit to 24 hours work per week
- Full or partial RICS qualification ideal
- UK / EU Driving Licence
