IT Support Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer to join a company in Leighton Buzzard. This is a full time role and the working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Leighton Buzzard Office

The Role:

As an Entry-Level IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end users. Your primary focus will be on resolving basic hardware and software issues, troubleshooting network problems,and ensuring smooth daily operations of our IT systems. This role presents an excellent opportunity for someone eager to kick-start their career in the IT field and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via various channels, including phone, email, remote support
  • and in-person.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems for desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, software applications, and security updates.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and assist in resolving basic network problems.
  • Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords.
  • Educate end-users on basic IT procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor IT systems to identify potential issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
  • Document all support activities, solutions, and knowledge base articles for future reference.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Stay updated with the latest IT trends and technologies to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Person Specification:

  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  •  Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and networking concepts.
  •  Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  •  Customer-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering exceptional support.

Education:

  • GCSE. Grade C or above in English and Maths.

Qualifications:

  •  Certification in IT preferably CompTia A+ and Network+

Experience:

  •  Entry Level position, experience / strong interest in technology and a passion for solving technical problems
