The role

Are you looking for a rewarding career that allows you to utilise your Project Controls and/or Project Management experience within a supportive, fast-paced team? If yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you at United Utilities (UU) as a Project Controller.

As a Project Controller you will be responsible for maintaining robust control structures and processes, integrating various project management activities. This role is pivotal in providing clear and timely visibility of project performance, enabling rapid and effective decision-making and the implementation of control actions on a fully informed basis.

In-person attendance is required three days per week at our Lingley Mere, Warrington site to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the delivery of one of the PMO Services functions to a high standard.
  • Maintain an accurate assessment of project delivery status and provide detailed reports to the Senior Project Controller.
  • Monitor the integrated baseline master schedule and cost plan, ensuring alignment with the budget through regular consultation with all parties.
  • Maintain an accurate assessment of risk and contingency allowance for each project.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track project progress.
  • Support Earned Value (EV) reporting.
  • Implement systems for early warning of emerging risks or issues.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of interfaces and dependencies; ensure that responsibilities for the management of interfaces are clearly assigned and understood.
  • Ensure the application of the change management process throughout all tiers of the project.

Skills & experience
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Solid experience in Project Controls and comprehensive knowledge of project control techniques.
  • Proficient with IT systems for Project Controls and budget management, including Primavera P6 and SAP.
  • Excellent numerical and data analysis capabilities with a great attention to detail.
  • Innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem identification, raising concerns, suggesting solutions, and adapting to change.
