Assistant Accountant
Full-time, Permanent - Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per annum

Main Purpose of the Job:
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the main purpose of the role is to support the overall day-to-day running of the Finance department, ensuring a seamless operation is executed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of all aspects of Purchase Ledger transactions using Merlin
- Setting up new suppliers.
- Posting supplier invoices
- Raising and making supplier payments through BACS
- Posting and reconciliation of staff expenses
- Vat reconciliation and quarterly submission
- Bank reconciliation
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Ability to interpret, challenge and analyse variances in the management accounts
- Posting accruals and prepayment journals
- Close monthly and yearly nominal ledgers
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive best practices and process efficiencies
- Promote and drive strong relationships with the purchasing team as well as the rest of the business
- Recommend operational improvements.
- Delivering accurate month-end reporting across 4 legal entities.
- Assist in month-end analysis and commentary,
- Maintain financial control ensuring compliance.
Person Specification:
- Experience in a similar role
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with key business stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel
- Experience of using Merlin or similar applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Other Ad-Hoc as deemed necessary
Qualifications:
- AAT or equivalent
- Qualified by experience
- No-longer studying
Working Conditions:
- Office based role Monday – Friday
- 9am – 5pm with 30 minutes lunchbreak.
- Monthly close outside normal office hours are a standard requirement in this role (this activity is not eligible for overtime)
