Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant

- Salary: £28k - £30k plus up to £5k performance-related bonus on debt collection
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant with a focus on Credit Control and Accounts Payable to join our finance team within the hospitality sector. This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is committed to maintaining the financial health of our dynamic and growing organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:
Credit Control:
- Monitor and manage the company's accounts receivable ledger.
- Assess customer credit applications and establish credit limits.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment and aim for zero overdue debt.
- Resolve customer queries and disputes regarding invoices and payments professionally and efficiently.
- Prepare and distribute regular debtor reports to management.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address payment issues.
Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices with accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Match purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payment runs, including BACS, CHAPS, and international payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and address any outstanding issues.
- Maintain accurate transaction records in the accounting system.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist with financial reports and audit documentation.
- Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in credit control and accounts payable.
- Proficiency in Sage Line 50 cloud and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
