Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary: £28k - £30k plus up to £5k performance-related bonus on debt collection

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant with a focus on Credit Control and Accounts Payable to join our finance team within the hospitality sector. This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is committed to maintaining the financial health of our dynamic and growing organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

Credit Control:

  • Monitor and manage the company's accounts receivable ledger.
  • Assess customer credit applications and establish credit limits.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment and aim for zero overdue debt.
  • Resolve customer queries and disputes regarding invoices and payments professionally and efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute regular debtor reports to management.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address payment issues.

Accounts Payable:

  • Process supplier invoices with accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Match purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process payment runs, including BACS, CHAPS, and international payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and address any outstanding issues.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records in the accounting system.
  • Assist in month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.

General Accounting Support:

  • Assist with financial reports and audit documentation.
  • Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and administrative tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in credit control and accounts payable.
  • Proficiency in Sage Line 50 cloud and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
