We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to work closely with the General Manager of a fantastic business in the construction sector. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting site visits, audits, and maintaining strong working relationships with various stakeholders.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Conduct personal site visits as directed for health and safety audits, risk assessments, method statements preparation, and compliance checks.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients' health and safety representatives, site supervisors, our own staff, and representatives from HSE or environmental statutory bodies.
  • Assist in the production of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Attend and document ‘Site Safety Meetings' and ensure all records are filed appropriately.
  • Ensure the company is fully compliant with all health and safety statutes and requirements.
  • Work with the General Manager to keep health and safety templates up to date, accurate, and implement changes as required.
  • Engage in the preparation, implementation, and review of the company's SAFE Policy and Health and Safety Management systems.
  • Support the General Manager and Contracts Manager by typing up risk assessments and method statements, supporting and implementing policies and procedures, and conducting periodic reviews.
  • Attend all required meetings and carry out inspections and risk assessments for equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Participate in essential courses for professional development in health and safety as deemed necessary by the General Manager.
  • Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and the implementation of control measures.
  • Identify and report any residual hazards/risks to the General Manager.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as required by the company.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to conduct thorough audits and risk assessments.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
