The NET Recruit team are collaborating with a financial services business to assist them on their search for a Collections Manager in the Southampton area. This business has been providing cash flow solutions for several decades and have built up not only a good client base but also an excellent reputation for business consultancy on financial strategy and credit collections, to enable their clients to have a better cash flow process and reach financial success in a more sustainable way. Recently they have undergone an acquisition, leading to new opportunities lined up for the next few years.

The position holder will join and lead a diverse team of Collection Advisors, working at varying levels in their career. There will be the expectation that the position holder will be able to change and progress their clients' accounts, ensuring their cash flow is smooth and that debt is acknowledged and chased to ensure good customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will also be tasked with mentoring and leading the team, to ensure workloads are completed and that the credit function is operating optimally.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of collection advisors, setting out expected workloads, supporting on their accounts and providing swift feedback for improvement as the need arises
  • Managing a portfolio of client accounts, handling all matters relating to their credit control
  • Proactively making credit control and collection calls to chase current and overdue debt
  • Promptly providing updates to clients to keep them up to date with the state of their credit control
  • Dealing with any issues that are raised by junior team members, seeking a proactive solution that is fair to all parties involved
  • Setting and monitoring KPIs and targets for the team, ensuring that each member of the credit control team is supported to achieve their targets
  • Identifying trends and areas for improvement and implementing new processes to streamline the credit control journey, making it as efficient as possible

What you will need to Apply:

The ideal candidate for this role will need to possess a strong amount of experience within a full credit/collections control position, managing large quantities of calls per day, engaging on the whole credit control process from start to finish and liaising with customers and stakeholders. This experience should be within a B2B environment. Any additional business, accounting or collections related qualifications would be a bonus. It is vital to have excellent communication skills and be confident in your approach and the company is expecting for applicants to have demonstratable leadership skills and experience. Applicants will need to be meticulous with details, showing knowledge and versatility with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, alongside accounts systems such as Sage.

For the successful candidate the company is offering a starting salary of up to £35,000, depending upon credit control and leadership experience and knowledge. This will accompany a discretionary profit & performance-related bonus, private medical cover and additional in-house benefits.
