  • Excellent opportunity to support the Operational Risk Framework within NFU Mutual's Finance Division
  • A position that offers a varied workload and brings great exposure to senior leadership
  • Hybrid role with 60% homeworking and 40% in Stratford-upon-Avon

About the role:

NFU Mutual's Finance Division are excited to share an excellent new opportunity to join them in the role of Risk Consultant.

The purpose of this role is to support and coordinate the management of operational risks and controls for the Finance Division. You will facilitate, monitor, and report on departmental risks and issues to ensure an effective operational risk management approach is in place, embedding an appropriate risk framework and culture. Additionally, you will support the development of risk management strategies and apply controls designed to manage risk exposure, ensure continuity of services, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, internal risk appetites, and constraints.

As a Risk Consultant, you will also serve as the Risk Information Officer for multiple departments within the division. You will have regular meetings to discuss existing risks, controls, metrics (such as Key Control Indicators and Key Risk Indicators) and managing any identified risks through the lessons learned process. This will include conducting root cause analyses and ensuring actions are completed to prevent recurrence.

You'll also take the lead in ensuring best practice from the internal Risk Framework is embedded and followed across the Finance Division, supporting and coaching managers to ensure awareness of accountabilities and expectations in relation to control and audits, and to drive consistency and compliance across the division.

Another core part of the role will be to support the development, testing and maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery planning, in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders, to ensure it is robust, effectively communicated and will deliver the necessary degree of service continuity.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 60% of your hours from home.

About you:

We're seeking a professional with extensive knowledge and experience in operational risk management, along with a proven track record in developing and implementing controls and processes.

You'll have excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and influence decision making. You'll be able to confidently take the lead in embedding risk management, have the curiosity to assess emerging risk and to be proactive in identifying solutions focused on mitigating risks. You'll also welcome the opportunity to lead, coach and develop any potential reports.

To join our team, you'll also have:

  • Experience in Business Continuity management
  • Knowledge of financial controls
  • Substantial experience with Microsoft Office
