Mechanical Commissioning Engineer - Water (6 Month Contract Self-Employed)

Are you a Commissioning Engineer looking for a new contract opportunity with a well-established and secure business delivering advanced projects in the Water industry, where you can benefit from at least 6 months of guaranteed work and the chance to get your foot in the door with some major UK utilities businesses?

This nationwide business originally began as a consultancy working with the main water suppliers in the UK to provide specialist support, advice and engineering services. After establishing themselves as one of the core players in the UK's Water industry, they have recently begun expanding a new part of the business focusing on project delivery and the provision of plant engineering, operations and maintenance services to high-profile clients including one of Europe's largest FMCG companies.

In this contract position there will initially be 6 months of work confirmed to support with the delivery and commissioning of 2 large pumping station projects for a major Water company in North England. As a Commissioning Engineer for the main contractor, you will be responsible for the final handover to the client by carrying out pre-commissioning planning/scheduling, system commissioning/testing/troubleshooting and rectifying any issues that come about.

The ideal candidate will have gained previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer for mechanical systems used in process plant projects such as in the Water, Chemicals, Waste or Pharma industries, or alternatively they will have specialist experience in commissioning large-scale pumping systems.

This is a great opportunity for someone to get their foot in the door with a large and reputable contractor where they can secure a consistent and predictable pipeline of work with company in the Utilities sector.

The role:

  • 6 month contract working self-employed, with the potential for an extension of the duration
  • System commissioning for predominantly pumping equipment
  • Producing commissioning plans and schedules
  • Carrying out functional & performance tests to ensure specifications and requirements met
  • Identifying, troubleshooting and rectifying issues that arise during commissioning
  • Preparing, maintaining and circulating relevant documentation such as test reports and manuals

The person:

  • Previous experience gained in mechanical systems commissioning
  • Demonstrable experience working in a Process environment (e.g Water, Pharma, Chemicals) or in commissioning Pumping projects
  • Full UK driving license
