Suffolk County Council are looking to recruit an Alternative Provision Officer to join ourteam based in Ipswich (Hybrid) . You will be working on a full time, permanent basis and in return, the successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £32,076 - £38,223 per annum.

About the role

As an Alternative Provision Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting children, young people, and their families who require access to alternative provision.

You will:

  • process in-year admission applications, assessing student needs and circumstances with care and attention to detail
  • prepare case files for In Year Fair Access Protocol (IYFAP) and Alternative Provision (AP) consideration, ensuring all relevant information is accurately compiled
  • be the go-to person for families, offering expert advice on the in-year admission process and available options
  • collaborate with internal services and external partners to find innovative solutions and create positive outcomes for those who need alternative provision
  • use your excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from families to professional partners.

Your passion for making a difference will drive you to find creative solutions and ensure that every child has the opportunity to engage, participate, and be included in education.

You will need:

  • strong knowledge of Signs of Safety and practical understanding of solution-focused approaches
  • experience working directly with children, young people, and their families
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with various audiences
  • the ability to recognize and act on Child Protection and risk issues
  • strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

You will be joining the Alternative Provision team within our Inclusion service. Together, we work across other internal services and external partners to find solutions and create positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families who require access to alternative provision. Our focus is on supporting engagement, participation, and inclusion in education. We are a collaborative team, committed to making a real difference in young people's lives.
