Tax and Control Accountant

Duties & Responsibilities of the Tax and Control Accountant will include:

  • Business partnering with other teams and business across the Group internally and within the wider group
  • Preparation of periodic (monthly / quarterly) VAT and Intrastat returns where the Group has filing responsibilities (UK and Overseas)
  • Maintenance of an ongoing high level issues log and identification of changes in trends in periodic VAT returns. Maintain up to date VAT return process documentation.
  • Preparation of reporting and submissions for the packaging and environmental taxes (UK and Overseas)
  • Preparation of inputs to support external advisors in preparing Corporation Tax filings, ensuring payments are made on time (UK and Overseas)
  • Payroll: oversight tax compliance for colleagues based internationally and benefit-in-kind reporting requirements including monitoring of annual PAYE Settlement Agreements
  • Working very closely in respect of all tax reporting required for group purposes and preparing annual SAO documentation and up to date tax risk registers
  • Maintenance of a reporting tracker (tax and regulatory reporting) for the UK and all company overseas branches / operations
  • Manage routine transfer pricing benchmarking reviews and transfer pricing reporting (including CBCR and Local Files)
  • Understand and regularly review customs and duty compliance and procedures, implementing periodic reviews of customs & excise processes and controls
  • Work with customs agents to ensure agents are complying with the relevant requirements

What we need from you:

  • Qualified or part qualified accountant
  • In role experience of supporting/reviewing tax reporting
  • Foundation in internal financial control and risk management
  • Self starter with a growth mindset who is always prepared for a new challenge
