Role: Business Development manager
Location: Redditch
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 - DOE
Duration: Permanent
Hours: Full time - Monday - Friday
Role Overview:
- To build and maintain relationships with existing customers, making our client a supplier of choice for repeat business and new product opportunities
- To present our clients materals to new customers with the aim of generating interest, enquiries and orders for core products across multiple market sectors - Industrial, Automotive, Security, Lighting and Aerospace
- To work as part of a cross-departmental divisional team and act as the external representation for company objectives
- To maximise turnover and profitability with current and new customers
Key Responsibilities:
- To meet or exceed the set personal sales targets and gross margin objectives
- To maintain a regular contact/visit schedule with the current customer base through use of the CRM system and report back to the business in a timely manner
- To identify new, potential customers for core products and create a sales strategy to develop each into active accounts
- To maintain internal reporting systems in an up-to-date status. Microsoft Outlook calendar, Sales Funnel, Visit/Contact reports etc
- To work either individually or as part of a team in the processing and costing of enquiries and quotations and to follow the same up in a timely and effective manner
- To work with internal colleagues on both general and specific projects in relation to new and current sales activities
- To deliver new business to the company in a clear and professional manner through project management with relevant cross-departmental teams
- To support the internal sales team and account managers when business needs require
- To support, attend and travel to relevant UK and overseas events when required
- To support the company in customer-specific activities e.g. Aged debt management and control

- Ability to build relationships with customers and internal colleagues
- Must excel in customer relationship building
- Ability to identify business opportunities, plan a strategy to canvas and work to convert
- Self-starter with good time management skills and reporting disciplines
- Meticulous attention to detail and used to effectively managing customer led projects
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate well with others of all levels, both internally and externally
- Proven negotiation skills and good commercial acumen
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Must be organised and able to multitask and prioritise to get results
- Strong use of the Microsoft package - PowerPoint, Word and Excel (Intermediate minimum)
- Must hold a passport with no limitations for worldwide travel
- Must hold a current, valid driving licence
- Ideally some experience in selling industrial fasteners or engineered components to a variety of market sectors
- Ideally with existing contacts in the manufacturing and general industries
