M365 Security Specialist

The Opportunity

Nigel Wight is delighted to be supporting this well known national business in recruiting a M365 Security Specialist as they continue on their cloud journey. With a strong M365 background, you will be well versed in the Security and Compliance tooling within Microsoft 365, particularly Purview data classification, labelling, DLP, sensitivity and retention, which will assist in ensuring the business continues to improve how it governs their unstructured data within the Microsoft 365 suite.

The business operates a hybrid working model where staff are able to work from home 2-3 days a week.

The Role

In this project focussed role, you will:

  • Review, define and manage the service definition and service effectiveness of security within M365, including the planning for maturity development and meeting expectations.
  • Support the management and governance of technical security resilience, ensuring up to date, effective documentation is in place and to support testing our configurations.
  • Document process, procedure and risks to the required standard for security resilience and to pass the scrutiny of internal and external audits.
  • Define and report metrics that matter to evidence performance and risk are being managed.
  • Enhance security processes and automation, reducing dwell time to conclusion.
  • Support, facilitate or define audits.

The Person

Passionate about using technology to best achieve business objectives and improve services, you will possess:.

  • Extensive experience of the Microsoft 365 suite from a technical perspective, particularly SharePoint and Teams.
  • Significant experience in Security and Compliance tooling within Microsoft 365, particularly Purview data classification, labelling, DLP, sensitivity and retention.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra/AAD technologies supporting Security and Compliance, such as conditional access and other security technologies.
  • Strong experience in supporting continual improvement around data risk and cyber security.
  • A proactive can-do attitude and will enjoy contributing towards an adaptive, fun and creative environment
  • Experience of building trust and highly effective working relationships with a diverse range of technical and none technical stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

It would be advantageous if you had any of the following:

  • Experience of IaC technologies, such as Ansible and Terraform, or automation/programmatic deployment around Microsoft Graph.
  • Working knowledge of SIEM technologies, particularly Microsoft Sentinel, and/or XDR technologies such as Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience of migrating data into SharePoint from on premise data storage solutions.
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
