HR Assistant

Posted by Reed.

My client, a manufacturer based in Devon, are looking for a HR Assistant to join their HR department. You will play a key part in delivering HR support across their two sites.

You may already have experience working within a busy HR role or have worked in an administration capacity and are now looking to develop a career in this area, be aware of the need to deliver consistent and compliant responses to any issues, able to adapt and will have excellent communication skills. It is a fast-paced environment so you need to be organised, adaptable and flexible – no one day is the same!

In any week you could be managing the following tasks plus plenty more;

  • Recruitment; ensuring the recruitment process runs efficiently and smoothly from advertising vacancies, being the first point of contact by responding to and contacting candidates, interviewing, making job offers and liaising with recruitment agencies.
  • Managing the on-boarding process for all new starters; obtaining personnel information, processing & issuing contract packs, checking Right To Work evidence and planning and delivering inductions
  • Being responsible for typing minutes of meetings such as Investigations, disciplinary and other ER related meetings.
  • Responding to all internal and external HR related enquiries.
  • Daily monitoring of absence and sickness for the business and keeping accurate records
  • Maintaining personnel records through their HR software system
  • Ensuring all relevant information is processed and included on the payroll spreadsheet ready for submission to the finance department
  • Orchestrating and assisting managers administratively with our annual staff reviews
  • Managing, reporting and processing varied tasks such as staff surveys, Employee of the Month and co-ordinating social events.

The role is based at Heathfield Industrial Estate (Newton Abbot) but you will also be required to travel to the Exeter site at least one day a week, therefore it is essential that you have your own transport.

Working in a small team means that you will be involved in all aspects of the department and need to be prepared to get stuck in, attention to detail and the right attitude is key.

They offer their staff:

  • 30 days holiday (plus additional day after 2 years)
  • Bank Holiday & Christmas Week closure
  • Their products free of charge to take home
  • Excellent working conditions & staff rest facilities (free tea & coffee, fridge, microwave etc)
  • Excellent location – easy access by car from the A38
  • Membership of their employee assistance scheme (access to free financial, health, legal & emotional support 24/7)
  • Development - there are plenty of development opportunities for those that want to progress
  • £200 refer a friend scheme

If you have a positive, hard-working attitude, a keen eye for detail and a desire to get involved and become a key member of their business then you'll reap the rewards with them.
