My client is an independent school based in Epsom, looking to recruit a Director of Finance and Resources to oversee the schools financial and business affairs.
The role will work closely with the Head Teacher on the day to day running of the school and leads on all financial matters, with responsibility for the efficient and effective leadership and management of the School's resources. As a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Finance and Resources will make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of the school, whilst managing the legal, statutory and day to day financial obligations. The role requires a ‘hands on' approach as although managing the schools finances is the core area of the role, a willingness to oversee the other support areas of HR, IT and Premises is important. The school has use of a range of external specialist experts to call upon, as well as an experienced onsite support team.
Strong business acumen and previous experience within a similar role within the education sector is preferred. However, qualified accountants, with a vested interested in and commitment to move into the education sector, with experience of working in a multi-faceted role to take in areas of responsibility outside of pure finance, are welcomed to apply. You must be adept at building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders including staff, governors, third party contractors and parents, and have the gravitas and sensitivity to foster respect and trust easily. You'll enjoy being involved in the granular detail, but equally adept at providing financial analysis and management information to support key business decisions and major projects.
