Location: Witham

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career in the freight industry? Our client, a leading logistics organisation, is seeking an Export Customs Administrator to join their team. As an Export Customs Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods between the UK and the EU, while adhering to HMRC regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Recognise client export commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s), extracting necessary data to complete export declarations and comply with HMRC regulations.
  • Liaise with exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for export entries.
  • Enter export shipment details onto specialised Customs software, such as CDS, NCTS, NES, GVMS, and TSS, to facilitate the departure of goods from the UK.
  • Ensure the highest standards of customer service by completing customs entries on time.
  • Maintain customs compliance within the team and prioritise data accuracy in the consignment details.

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with various agencies on a daily basis.
  • Customer-focused approach, with the ability to liaise internally with colleagues and externally with clients.
  • Proficient in using Windows-based applications and industry-standard software.
  • Fully conversant with Customs applications, including CDS, NCTS, NES, GVMS, and TSS.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and organised, able to work effectively in a fast-paced European groupage environment.
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • Recognised pass rate for GCSE in Maths and English.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience in an operational Customs environment, handling International Logistics Customs documentation.
  • Experience in managing HMRC obligations related to Customs, import, and export.
  • Familiarity with customs software such as Sequoia and Descartes would be a plus.
  • Academic qualifications within the Customs Industry would be advantageous.
  • Well-established contacts or the ability to navigate departments within HMRC and Border Force to support query management quickly and efficiently.
  • A-Level / Degree level education desired but not essential.

Our client offers a competitive salary of £26,000 per annum and a permanent full-time position.
