Our client is looking for a Graduate Ecologist who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the field and develop a deep understanding of ecological practices. The role involves extensive on-site work, including night shifts, primarily focused on motorway and construction sites. The successful candidate will assist in the management of ecological issues on these sites, working with protected species such as dormice, bats, and reptiles. They will also contribute to habitat surveys and report writing, while learning from senior team members who provide specialist advice and guidance on ecological matters.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting nest checks, bird surveys, and habitat assessments on-site.
- Support senior ecologists in managing ecological issues, including the relocation of species (with appropriate licenses).
- Contribute to the preparation and analysis of ecological data for technical reports.
- Collaborate on the creation of habitat and bat surveys, and assist in generating commercially presentable reports for clients.
- Participate in dusk/dawn and night-time surveys, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed and submitted according to company policy.
- Help create Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and ensure that resources are in place for ecologically sensitive works.
- Work with senior team members to ensure best practices are followed on-site, particularly in relation to protected species.
Requirements:
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Confidence and willingness to work primarily on-site, with travel across the Southeast region.
- Ability to work night shifts as required.
- Interest in gaining licenses for working with protected species (support will be provided if not already licensed).
- You will need a driving license as some of the site's are in remote locations and you will not always be able to carpool.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Existing licenses for working with bats, dormice, or other protected species.
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly involving fieldwork and report writing.
