Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with a high growth Games studio in their search for a Financial Controller.

The business is backed two leading Venture Capital funds that have a track record of early investments into some of the biggest Tech start-up success stories in the UK & Europe. As such, you'll be joining a well-funded start-up where you'll have the opportunity to directly influence the strategy as the business scales.

You'll join a diverse, friendly and sociable Gaming workplace environment where cross-departmental collaboration has been central to their success thus far. They have a fantastic office space in Sheffield and the option to work from home on a flexible, hybrid basis.

Role

As Financial Controller reporting into the Head of Operations, you will have the key remit of building and professionalising the finance function alongside a part-time Consultant CFO, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and accurate financial data delivery.

  • Lead day-to-day operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing and expense management.
  • Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and new systems to enhance efficiency.
  • Be the point of contact for external auditors, facilitating audit processes, and ensuring timely completion of requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts and budgets to support strategic decision-making and business planning processes.
  • Monitor cash flow projections and liquidity requirements, implement cashmanagement strategies, and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax regulations, and financial
  • reporting standards.
  • Support and challenge business stakeholders based on financial analysis and insights.
  • Analyse financial performance, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities, developing recommendations for operational planning and forecasting targets.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • 5+ years senior finance experience in a start-up or SME environment
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent accounting software user with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all departments and levels of the business.
  • You're proactive, and comfortable both working independently in addition to collaborating with executives.

Bonus experience

  • Experience working in Gaming or similar industries (e.g Technology, Software & Media)
