Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Part-Time Occupational Therapist to join the therpay team within a secondary SEMH school based within the beautiful fields of Guildford. The successful candidate will work with students to help them develop the skills needed to participate fully in their educational and social environments. You will play a key role in assessing students' needs, developing individualized intervention plans, and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to support students' overall development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' occupational therapy needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans that address sensory, motor, and functional challenges.
  • Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to integrate occupational therapy strategies into the classroom and home environments.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, adjusting intervention plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions and progress.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide training and support to staff on strategies to support students' occupational therapy needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A recognized degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of sensory integration, motor skills development, and functional daily living skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
