Hays Senior Finance is proud to be working in partnership with Next Chapter who are looking to appoint a Finance Manager which is a key and pivotal appointment where you will be a part of their Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Next Chapter was established in 1975, on the back of the 2nd wave of feminism, just as domestic violence was being formally recognised as a crime and the first legislation dedicated to combatting domestic violence was enacted. Initially called Colchester Women's Aid, following the establishment of the Women's Aid Federation and more recently Colchester & Tendring Women's Refuge, the decision to change the name to Next Chapter was in recognition of the much wider remit, not least the move to support male victims, and the collective desire to provide the organisation with an identity that reflected their aspirations and values. Next Chapter is now a widely respected and valued provider of expert, specialist domestic abuse services.

They are a focused and responsive organisation that thrives on partnership working and a deep passion for supporting victims of domestic abuse, advocating for the most vulnerable in our society and challenging decisions, systems and individuals that create barriers to their clients achieving safety or impacting their wellbeing as they work towards their life free from domestic abuse. Their staff are committed to and positive about the difference they make to people's lives.

What you'll do...

As a member of our Executive Leadership Team, the Finance Manager will work collaboratively with the CEO & ELT to ensure the effective management, accounting and reporting of the finances. The postholder will be responsible for producing management accounts and reporting to the Board of Trustees and for ensuring that the organisation works to good financial practices and fulfils it's legal obligations.

You will work collaboratively and take collective responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of the organisation, in relation to culture and leading by example. You will also work closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO, Treasurer and Board of Trustees to facilitate good governance and risk management.

What they're looking for...

The ideal candidate will be a finance professional and be ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA Qualified, Part-Qualified or Qualified by Experience with previous experience of working in a high performing finance team. Experience of working within the Charities sector will be an advantage, but is not essential.

You will have drive, ambition and the ability to work in an authentic and collaborative manner. In addition to the ability to liaise with high level key stakeholders, you will create insightful financial and operational performance information that will direct business planning and in-year delivery. You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.

To achieve this, you will need to work effectively and efficiently with internal teams. You will be responsible for the full remit of the finance function to ensure the finances remain secure and are compliant to the statutory regulations.

Why choose them...

This is an exciting time to join Next Chapter, so if you feel you have the drive, passion and enthusiasm to help achieve their mission and vision, they can offer you a role that is not only hugely satisfying but brings great benefits and a stimulating and supportive working environment.

They embrace equality, diversity and inclusion, and actively seek to attract individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives to create a team where everyone feels welcome and able to grow.

They have a hands-on, pragmatic team culture so it is essential that you can roll up your sleeves and be involved in the day-to-day operations as well as influencing others to continue to innovate and improve their financial processes.

In return, they are offering a competitive salary, and an excellent benefits package including attractive annual leave. Flexible and agile working arrangements including working from home for the right candidate will be available.

Next Chapter are happy to support a candidate looking to take a step up to this level for the first time and will consider candidates without managerial experience.

This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation that is determined to perform at its best, prioritising culture, thinking innovatively, and creating better opportunities for its people and customers to have a positive and long-lasting impact.
