Accountable to: Executive Director of Finance
Location/ Site/ Base: Crawley
2. The Assistant Management Accountant will provide a management accounting service to the FBAs across a range of cost centres/directorates to assist the FBAs in delivering robust operational and financial management whilst improving cost-effectiveness. The post holder will ensure the provision of accurate and timely finance and management accounting information service finance managers.
3. The post holder will be responsible for assisting the FBAs in providing financial support to the senior finance team and budget holders to achieve financial control and effective budget management and to facilitate the delivery of the Trust's financial targets.
5. Ensuring accurate and timely monthly management accounting information is produced and clearly reported, with the key income and expenditure variances appropriately analysed and presented in a user-friendly manner, so that the senior finance team can effectively evaluate financial performance.
Preparation of clear and accurate journal entries and workings which fully explain the reason for the journal.
The identification of accruals and prepayments, adjusting via journals into the computerised ledger system and the investigation of variances and discrepancies, making appropriate budget, expenditure or income adjustments via journals.
This will involve close liaison with budget holders (including monthly meetings) and a detailed understanding of the functioning of clinical and non-clinical services within the Trust.
Maintenance of accurate working papers which provide clear backing for the monthly results.
Discuss forecasting with the Budget Holder to emphasise the over/under spending and where CIP can be taken off.
Movement of Budgets, preparation of costs to be included in Budget requirements, for example, CCP Budget realignment costs.
Provide the required information for the annual statutory reporting process in compliance with the timetable, regulations and accounting standards and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of inputs. Identify, design, and implement procedural changes within your own area and within an agreed level of authority.
Support budget managers in identifying financial trends & KPIs. Develop, implement, and monitor solutions to address adverse variances. Assisting budget holders to manage their Directorate risks, pressures and expected.
Provide budget holders and service managers with continual support to manage their financial resources effectively through greater customer engagement and the establishment of effective communication channels.
To monitor income due and raise invoices as necessary.
The postholder must have a full understanding of the range and complexity of the income streams due to the Trust and is responsible for ensuring that all income due is accounted for.
To prepare estimates for compilation of annual pay, non-pay and income budgets by analysing available financial data and through discussions with budget holders and managers. This process must encompass any developments available through bids for additional potential funding.
Actively engage in continuous personal development.
Assist in the production of finance and activity data for contracting purposes.
Respond to routine queries and provide advice relative to your own area of expertise.
