Group Financial Reporting Accountant

Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join us here at Gattaca, an AIM listed recruitment solutions business.

This critical role will report to the Group Financial Reporting Manager and will play a key part in supporting the production of consolidated Group financial statements, the Annual Report, and statutory financial statements for both UK and overseas subsidiaries. This role is ideal for a practice-trained, ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with a strong technical background and, ideally, experience in audit.

The role

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with a small team to deliver half-yearly and year-end statutory Group reporting, including preparation of consolidation and statutory accounts under IFRS to high standards and within tight deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest IFRS developments, assess the impact of accounting standard changes, and apply them to key judgement areas like revenue recognition, impairment review, intangible asset capitalisation, and share options.
  • Provide support throughout the annual audit cycle, working closely with internal teams and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient Group audit process.
  • Prepare and deliver statutory accounts for the Group's UK subsidiaries (FRS 101) and overseas subsidiaries across EMEA, North America, and Asia, including supporting local audits and ongoing projects to update historical accounts and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements, such as Employee Related Securities, Payment Practice reporting, and various ONS surveys, under the oversight of the Group Financial Reporting Manager.
  • Support the Group Head of Tax and Group Tax Manager with tax-related disclosures, UK VAT reconciliation, and UK corporation tax returns.
  • Work with the wider Finance department to identify opportunities for process simplification and automation to enhance efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Undertake ad-hoc finance-based project work as required.

Key skills we are seeking:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Well-organised, efficient, and capable of managing multiple work streams.
  • A technically confident accountant with the ability to understand complicated accounting scenarios and apply accounting standards to situations to determine the appropriate treatment and disclosure.
  • Advanced Excel skills, comfortable with analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience in or working with international organizations is highly advantageous.
  • Team-oriented with experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative to resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact at various levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Commitment to driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
