Are you ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people? Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Year to join a thriving secondary school in Bradford, starting in September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to lead, inspire, and support students and staff within a vibrant and diverse school community.

As the Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in the pastoral care and academic progress of students within your year group. You will be responsible for ensuring that every student is supported to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. You will lead a team of form tutors, work closely with senior leadership, and engage with parents to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral care of students within a specific year group.
  • Monitor and track the academic progress of students, implementing intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure high standards of behaviour, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to promote student well-being and personal development.
  • Engage with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Organise and lead year group assemblies, events, and activities that contribute to the school's ethos and values.
  • Support the transition of students between key stages, ensuring a smooth and successful progression.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within a secondary school setting.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in secondary education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students and staff alike.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
