Finance Service Design Lead – Oracle Financials

- Initial contract up to end of financial year – end of March 2025 – Multi year contract
- Location: Central London (Hybrid - 3 days on-site - mandatory)
- Up to £850 per day – inside IR35
We are seeking a Service Design Lead in the Finance sector to provide leadership and foster a culture of innovation and standardisation. This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in service design and implementation within a modern Shared Services or Global Business Services (GBS) environment. The successful candidate will lead the development of service design, ensuring integration with other work streams and driving value-for-money solutions that align with our strategic goals.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the development and oversight of service design initiatives within the finance department.
- Liaising, where appropriate, with other design work streams to ensure the integration of services.
- Foster a culture of critical thinking, innovation, and standardisation, embracing and promoting the organisation's values.
- Share best practices and knowledge from the wider industry, enhancing team capabilities.
- Work closely with team members to clarify task assignments, set milestones, and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
- Proactively manage risks and issues, develop contingency plans, and escalate complex challenges to the Portfolio Manager as necessary.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain effective communication to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Promote an outcome-focused, collaborative culture within the service design team, ensuring all members understand their roles in achieving strategic objectives.
- Conduct gap analysis to identify improvement areas and collaborate with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to make data-driven decisions.
- Challenge current practices, develop new solutions, and create business cases to ensure project feasibility under tight constraints.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in service design and implementation, particularly in a Shared Services or GBS environment.
- Operational experience in a shared service or GBS setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cloud-based applications, such as Oracle Fusion / Oracle Financials, is advantageous.
- Strong ability to work in a highly pressured and complex environment with tight deadlines and limited budgets.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and align a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in collating and analysing both qualitative and quantitative data.
