We are excited to offer an opportunity for an Estates Assistant at a prestigious college. This role involves assisting the Estates Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining the college's buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the facilities are safe, clean, and efficiently maintained, supporting the day-to-day operations of the college.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, leaks, glazing, and more across college buildings and facilities.
- Responsible for locking and unlocking college buildings as needed.
- Operate and manage the college's heating, lighting, plumbing, and gate systems, liaising with contractors and service providers when necessary.
- Participate in a call-out rota for emergencies outside normal college hours.
- Support college events and functions, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Manage the movement of furniture and equipment to support the smooth running of the college.
- Drive college minibuses and other vehicles as required.
- Undertake emergency cleaning duties during the college day.
- Act as a First Aider and support offsite college commitments.
- Direct the work of cleaning staff if required.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and prioritize the safeguarding of all students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Physically fit to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 15 kg.
- Flexible work attitude and empathy towards the 16-19 age group.
- Friendly personality with a good sense of humour.
- Valid driving licence.
- First Aid qualification.
- Committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Committed to the principles of equality and diversity.
- Desirable: Experience with the age group and a trade or maintenance background (carpentry, masonry, electrics, plumbing).
