We are a prestigious top 100 law firm seeking an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead our credit control team in Surrey. This vital full-time role offers a competitive salary and requires a candidate with significant experience in managing Work in Progress (WIP) within a legal firm setting.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop, implement, and refine credit control strategies and procedures to ensure timely and effective collection of debts.
  • Proactively manage the firm's WIP, ensuring accurate and efficient billing processes.
  • Lead and mentor the credit control team, setting clear targets and monitoring performance to ensure objectives are met.
  • Conduct thorough credit checks on new clients and establish appropriate credit limits.
  • Monitor client accounts for delayed payments and follow up as needed to negotiate timely resolutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the status of credit and collections for senior management review.
  • Collaborate with solicitors, partners, and fee earners to facilitate discussions around client accounts and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Negotiate payment plans with clients and manage complex account queries.
  • Ensure accurate account reconciliations and maintain up-to-date client records.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Credit Control Manager within a legal firm environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of WIP management and its influence on financial performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing a successful credit control team.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Resilience and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • A relevant financial or credit management qualification would be beneficial.
