About the Role:

Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team in Leeds. This full-time position involves working closely with children with autism, providing essential support and guidance to help them thrive in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to children with autism.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's needs.
  • Foster social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Use effective strategies to manage and support challenging behavior.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the children's care.
  • Help with classroom activities, ensuring all students can participate and benefit.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or other special needs is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or child development are highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
