Elevation Recruitment Group's skilled shop floor team is pleased to be working on behalf of a hydrogen generator manufacturer to recruit a laboratory technician.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £30k - £35k

The Role

We are seeking a talented lab technician to support the operation and maintenance of hydrogen generators and catalyst production equipment.

Responsibilities

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the lab technician will support engineers and scientists in technology development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and preparing laboratory facilities, equipment, instruments, and materials for experiments or tests.
  • Operating HMI systems to control hydrogen generators and catalyst production systems.
  • Performing maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to ensure operability, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Assisting engineers and scientists in conducting experiments, tests, and research projects.
  • Collecting and analysing data, measurements, and observations using various tools and techniques.
  • Recording and documenting experimental data, observations, and results accurately and promptly.
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols to ensure consistency and reproducibility of experiments.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during experiments or tests.
  • Assisting in developing and optimizing test systems, laboratory procedures and protocols, and other development activities.
  • Collaborating with other team members or researchers to analyze and interpret data.
  • Complying with safety protocols and ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • GCSE or equivalent; technical college graduate or apprentice trained preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a lab technician in an engineering workshop or laboratory setting.
  • Strong work ethic with a drive to complete tasks to very high-quality standards.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team of technicians, engineers, and scientists.
  • Capable of operating and maintaining complex systems and test equipment.
  • Safety-focused.
  • Experience with operating PLC control systems and data logger systems.
  • Experience working with hazardous gases and liquids.
  • Knowledge of 5S principles.
  • Computer literacy.
