Lecturer - Barbering

HMP The Verne is a Category C men's prison. We prioritise education through partnership with Weston College and the Open University. Residents can access a robust curriculum, which includes distance learning and courses like Painting & Decorating and Construction.

We're now seeking a Lecturer to deliver high-quality Barbering courses.

Developing a positive learner experience on all courses, you'll complete all relevant administration work relating to your sessions, such as lesson planning, registers, learner enrolment and marking. You'll enrich learning through additional projects and actively market and promote Prison Education and recruit learners to courses.

About you

  • Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification, which is appropriate to the role.
  • Have previous industry experience.
  • Have excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be computer literate, including an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Be highly motivated and set high standards for self and others.
  • Have previous teaching experience and be able to provide extra support to learners with LDD needs (desirable).

A recognised teaching qualification is not essential, as long as you are prepared to achieve one (with the help of Weston College), within the first two years of employment.
