Mechanical Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a special purpose machinery manufacturer to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Chesterfield facility.

Our client is a world leader in the design, manufacturing and installation of metal recycling and processing systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an innovative and industry leading company with specialist expertise and experience in the design, manufacture and installation of environmental solutions for the aluminium industry. My client's in-house developed products and pioneering processes actively support waste reduction and recovery, aimed at reducing their customers' carbon footprint and environmental impact.

The company is part of an NYSE listed global organisation with over 11,000 people operating in over 30 countries. Their headquarters are in Chesterfield, where the main manufacturing and R&D facilities are located. Additional manufacturing and assembly facilities are located in the state of Pennsylvania, USA.

My client has registered numerous patents internationally and is a recipient of the Queen's Award for Enterprise, an honour recognising its leading position in the market. You will receive industry specific training and get the chance to work on prestigious projects delivered internationally.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing engineering development processes, analysing designs, and ensuring projects meet regulatory and customer sprecific requirements. Budgets should be maintained and complimented with technical & commercial justifications. You will demonstrate a high aptitude and expertise in mechanical design engineering, 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks & Inventor). Additionally, Design for manufacturing and assembly principles should be maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer include:

  • Develop innovative mechanical designs for products, systems, or components.
  • Create 3D models, detailed general arrangement, assembly and part drawings, CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD) with GD&T principles.
  • Create detailed design documentation, including specification, bills of materials (BoMs), and assembly instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures for ISO9001
  • Perform FEA analysis, thermal simulations, and other engineering calculations to validate designs, ensuring engineering gateways are maintained.
  • Optimise designs for performance, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Perform stress analysis, thermal simulations, and other engineering calculations to validate designs.
  • Build and test prototypes to verify design concepts.

We would be keen to speak with Mechanical Design Engineers with the following experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in design of specialist machinery or equipment
  • Strong knowledge of FEA and GD&T
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solidowrks or Inventor
  • Background in Design for Manufacture and assembly
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
