European & Export Sales Manager

Office based in Milton Keynes 2 days per week - Frequent travel to Germany & France

OBJECTIVE:

  • Achieve sales growth and profit targets in European & export markets
  • Build and maintain a high calibre European team that is inspired and motivated to deliver ambitious targets
  • Develop a solution-led, consultative sales approach in line with the Company's growth plan
  • Provide feedback and local market information to the Company's Marketing department in order to help create a coherent marketing policy which drives sales growth in the Company's European and export markets
  • Work with the Company's Design & Development department to provide information on local market needs and requirements in order to help drive new product development in line with Company's strategic aims

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a clear sales strategy to support the achievement in each region of the Company's Budget sales and margin plans
  • Identify and secure new clients and opportunities throughout Europe and in Export markets
  • • For territories, where the Company does not have its own business, grow Export sales by appointing new partners and obtaining growth with existing export partners or through direct selling activities
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy to drive the growth in sales of new products developed by the Company and provide feedback and market intelligence on new product development requirements.
  • Control, monitor and deliver feedback upon market pricing
  • Produce annual UK & export sales budgets and all monthly, and quarterly sales forecast models • Provide regular reporting and pipeline updates
  • Identify product and sales training needs and implement appropriate program

PROFESSIONAL/VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS OR SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5 years sales management experience in a recognised industrial or b2b organisation with a sales focus
  • Demonstrable ability to develop, implement and manage to a defined sales plan
  • A proven track record of European or international sales growth
  • Prior experience of successful selling to major accounts, able to lead by example
  • Resilient and diplomatic negotiator at every level with a sound commercial focus
  • A high level of business acumen, analytical skills and strategic awareness
  • Sound understanding of cashflow and cost management
  • Proven ability to support new product development by feeding back market intelligence on trends, future needs and requirements of customers
  • Ability to produce monthly general management reports and strategic papers
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of senior executives
  • Good PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • English required. Other European languages desirable.

  • This is a broad-reaching senior management role requiring the ability to develop excellent working relationships with all functions and management levels to Group board level
  • Self-motivated and possessing strong leadership skills to manage and lead the European sales team
  • Ability to be hands on leader of major European projects
  • Sound commercial acumen
  • An excellent communicator and team player
  • High level of personal credibility, ability to influence internal decision makers and major customers
  • Dynamic, energetic and optimistic personality
