Plant Manager

REED are partnering with a large employer, who have a great reputation in the South Wales area. This manufacturing company are underway with a positive transformation process and have hired some very experienced leaders to guide them along this journey. As Plant Manager, you will head up the companies Manufacturing Team and be responsible for the site facilities including; H&S and Production and will be responsible for upskilling and delivering through the team. This will be a strategic and hands on trouble shooting role, sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, and reporting directly into the companies Managing Director. If you have a background in LEAN and implementing Continuous Improvement methods in the FMCG sector, then this could be a great next step for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Coordination: Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet quality and efficiency standards. Manage a team and ensure smooth production flow by collaborating with other departments (Food Technical, People Team, H&S Team).
  • Safety and Wellbeing: Promote a safety culture, ensuring compliance with SHE site rules. Lead by example to drive health and safety awareness.
  • Site Management: Oversee site changes, improvements, and facility requirements, ensuring they align with capex plans and budgets.
  • Hygiene Compliance: Manage the Hygiene Team to maintain audit-ready standards.
  • Team Development: Develop management and operational team skills, fostering a multi-skilled workforce.
  • Energy Management: Lead the Energy Review Team to reduce energy usage and costs.
  • Motivation and Morale: Foster high levels of motivation and morale through effective leadership and communication.
  • Production Targets: Ensure the team meets production targets, achieving First Time Right (FTR) quality standards.
  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily production operations, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, using data to drive process enhancements.
  • Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with customers to understand their specifications and service requirements.
  • Lean Processes: Ensure raw material selection and product processing are lean and meet customer and business requirements.
  • Performance Reporting: Report on operational performance, ensuring adherence to product specifications and budgets.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for any deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure site activities do not exceed environmental impact consent levels.
