Role: Digital Skills Tutor

Duration: 3 Months (Initial)

Location: Fully Remote (1 day a month in Solihull)

Rate: £210 per day (umbrella)

Our client is one of the world's largest providers of public services to Governments, employing over 50,000 people in over 20 countries. They require a Digital Skills Tutor for an initial 3-month contract.

Job role:

Tutors will liaise closely with the clients Learner Progression and Success Coaches, customer impact, data and quality teams, and any supply chain partners delivering training in partnership with the client. The tutor will engage with learners to understand their requirements for training, as varying levels of support maybe required. Delivery will take a blended learning approach which may include face to face and online engagement with learners; unemployed, employed, or undertaking an apprenticeship programme. Tutors will support the team in embedding English and maths into the rest of the curriculum, ensuring directives and policies are reflected and implemented in everyday practice. The role combines elements of curriculum planning, pastoral support, facilitation, and delivery. Tutors will be experienced in the relevant field and hold relevant professional and academic qualifications.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivery of adult education and apprenticeship digital programmes, working with the Digital Skills Team, Curriculum Development and Quality Team, to ensure programmes meet demand, and meet Ofsted, Contract, and awarding body requirements.
  • Deliver programmes remotely and face to face with travel as required.
  • Review learner's initial assessment results (English, maths, digital) any learning support needs, the learner's circumstances, and their aspirations/career aims and job role (if employed)
  • Maintain accurate records and update relevant systems to track learner progress, and to support quality and data teams by providing information to satisfy the regulatory requirements of Ofsted, funding bodies, and awarding bodies.
  • Input to the development of learning and delivery materials for courses within the digital offer, working with the Digital Skills Team, Curriculum Development and Quality Team,
  • Ensure all course delivery and support materials are ready and available ahead of planned delivery.
  • Input to the scheduling of courses and evaluation
  • Input to the change of digital courses, schemes of work, learner journeys, lesson plans or their delivery
  • Input to the regular updates and changes to the digital course's schemes of work, learner journeys, lesson plans or their delivery
  • Maintain good communications and strong professional links with all personnel involved in the digital courses.
  • Manage and protect all customer information, this includes sensitive information in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of the Quality improvement plan and participate in the self-assessment process.
  • Encourage learner participation in regular feedback surveys to inform quality improvement.
  • Undertake professional development and training to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the Skills and training services delivered within Serco and through its supply chain.
  • Carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations.

Experience Required

  • Relevant digital qualifications (e.g., Data Analyst/MI, Digital Marketing, Cloud Computing/IT, coding, cyber security)
  • Minimum L3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent)
  • Experience of studying at level 4 or above
  • L3 Assessor Award (or equivalent)
  • Experience of designing and delivering digital programmes in the adult education sector (AEB, Bootcamps, etc.), including experience of working within a regulated quality environment (OFSTED, awarding bodies etc)
  • Relevant industry experience in the digital sector (e.g., Data Analyst/MI, Digital Marketing, Cloud Computing/IT, coding, cyber security)
  • Strong administration skills, ability to record information accurately and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written, including patience and empathy.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, support colleagues and promote excellent team spirit.
  • Caseload management skills, demonstrate the ability to plan and organise time and tasks effectively, and escalate issues as they arise.
  • Support a culture of learning and excellence that will promote the clients values.
  • Support the team in the implementation of innovation and change to ensure Serco deliver a high quality, efficient and profitable service.
  • Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learners.
  • Expertise in the use of a PC with experience of using office automation tools such as outlook, word, excel.
