General Farm Worker - North East

The Opportunity: Are you dedicated with a strong work ethic, eager to work as part of a team on a modern dairy farm offering full training and support? The General Farm worker is a hands-on role, working as part of a team responsible for the daily care and management of the dairy cattle, operating three times a day milking through a rotary parlour. With excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail you will follow procedures to ensure optimal health, production and welfare of the cattle. A unique opportunity for someone with or without previous dairy experience to advance and grow within the sector.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the milking of the dairy herd
  • To monitor herd health, identifying and highlighting signs of poor health
  • To scrape out and bed the cubicles and sheds
  • To undertake routine farm work duties
  • To keep accurate records and follow farm procedures and protocols

Skills you will need:
Essential:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A good attention to detail and observational skills
  • The ability to follow procedures and protocols
  • The motivation and willingness to learn and develop on the job
  • Reliable and honest with a strong work ethic
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks
  • Proficient in the use of computers

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with livestock, preferably dairy cattle

Remuneration: A comparative salary commensurate with candidate's experience, including double pay on bank holidays. Accommodation can be provided if required.
