Are you a forward-thinking accountant looking to make a real impact

Do you believe in the power of technology to transform businesses

Our client is not your average accounting firm. They're on a mission to revolutionise how businesses understand and leverage their finances, and they're looking for a dynamic Senior Accountant to join their team.

If you're passionate about helping businesses thrive, tech-savvy, and ready to challenge the status quo in accounting, this could be your perfect next move.

About Our Client
Our client does accountancy differently. They're not just about crunching numbers – they're passionate about helping businesses grow and thrive. Their approach is built on a few key principles:

  • They're proactive advisors, offering guidance that aligns their clients' business goals with their personal aspirations.
  • They embrace technology, constantly exploring new ways to improve both client and team experiences.
  • They act as their clients' Finance Department, providing comprehensive support and guidance.

Their mission is simple: to be kind, and to empower their clients' success. They take pride in building strong relationships and offering the support businesses need to reach their full potential.

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant who shares these values and can help them continue building their forward-thinking, customer-service-focused practice.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties, from day-to-day tasks to strategic advisory. Your role will be crucial in ensuring clients' financial compliance and success.

Key Responsibilities:
Statutory Accounting and Compliance

  • Prepare and file year-end accounts and corporation tax returns
  • Complete and submit VAT returns
  • Handle self-assessment tax returns
  • Ensure all statutory deadlines are met and clients remain compliant with regulatory requirements

Bookkeeping and Financial Management

  • Oversee and, where necessary, perform bookkeeping tasks
  • Prepare and review management accounts, providing clients with the financial data they need for informed decision-making
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes

Client Portfolio Management

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily within the construction and service-based business sectors
  • Build strong relationships with clients, becoming their go-to person for both day-to-day queries and long-term financial planning
  • Provide proactive, strategic financial advice to help clients align their business goals with their personal aspirations

Technology and Innovation

  • Advise clients on using cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks) and reporting tools like Fathom and Float
  • Actively explore and implement tech-driven efficiencies
  • Contribute to ongoing efforts to streamline processes using tools like Engager for practice management and FreshPay for payroll

Team Leadership and Development

  • Oversee junior team members, providing mentorship and support to ensure they deliver high-quality client service
  • Collaborate with the management team on internal improvements and business strategy
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry regulations
  • Contribute ideas for improving services, processes, and client experience

What Our Client Offers:

  • Flexible working hours, with options for part-time during school hours or compressed into 4 days per week
  • Hybrid working – work from home up to two days per week, with flexibility around school holidays
  • A half-day Friday once a month if key performance indicators (KPIs) are met
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing firm where you'll have a say in shaping the future of the business
  • A supportive, friendly work environment where your personal and professional growth is encouraged
  • Future opportunities to develop your own client portfolio and take a leadership role as the business expands
  • Regular team socials and a relaxed culture – they believe in enjoying work, not just getting through it

Hours & Pay

  • Flexible hours from 25 to 37.5 hours per week, with options to work around school hours or on a 4-day week
  • Salary of £37.5k - £45k depending on experience
