Role Summary/Purpose:
The role of Composite Technician will be to carry out the manufacture of composite components using a wide variety of hand building processes and machinery, including skills such as pattern building, lamination, wet processes, infusion and RTM whilst maintaining a culture of H&S and Quality.
Main Responsibilities:

Compliance with health and safety best practise and following specific Airborne H&S policies.

Interpreting engineering drawings
-
Adhering with Airborne quality management procedures when following the work instruction sheets.

Manufacturing of complex composite products. Tasks will include but not limited to,
-
preparing moulds, preparing resins and fabric, oven set-up, vacuum bagging, resin transfer, monitoring process parameters (temperature, time, pressure, etc.), removal of products from moulds, trimming and clean-up.

Working with dry fibre and prepreg materials

Manual handling of raw materials, semi-finished goods and finished products.

Use of hand and power tools for drilling, cutting and grinding operations while wearing appropriate PPE.

Operation of suitable equipment, as needed, and for which suitable training will be provided (CNC Ply Cutter, 3 Axis Router, Fork Lift Truck).

To proactively identify problems in the manufacture of products and provide contributions for potential improvements in efficiency or technical solutions, as may benefit Airborne.

To ensure general cleanliness and tidiness of the facility.

To complete timesheets promptly to allow tracking of projects.

General computer literacy
Desired Characteristics
- Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in composite manufacturing using prepreg and dry fibres.
- Ability to communicate well with others, both technical and non-technical.
