Network Engineer Apprentice

We are a Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in North Shields, supporting companies across the UK with their IT equipment, and providing cloud services, communications, and a range of other related services.
We are a forward-thinking company with a growth mindset, seeking an apprentice service desk analyst to join the team in providing excellent IT remote support to our clients.

Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join our great, supportive service desk team and undertake a Level 4 IT Network Engineer Apprenticeship.

You will become a valued member of the team at the forefront of our technical support desk, while gaining industry recognised certifications through the apprenticeship training program.

You will need a passion for IT; an understanding of excellent customer service; an enthusiastic, positive attitude; and the willingness to talk to people, exhibit confidence, and work at a high level with varied customers and technologies.

Location: eastQuay IT, North Shields, NE29 7SE

  • You will be based in our North Shields office and will be required to attend client sites on occasion, with a company vehicle being provided for these journeys.

Interview process:
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly for a pre-screening call where we will discuss your experience, what you are looking for in a position, and how you may be compatible with the role.

If you are successful at this stage, you will be invited to attend an in-person interview.

The Role:
Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service via phone, email and online portals
  • Install, configure, and deploy new and existing hardware and software, in line with defined procedures
  • Providing remote and onsite support to a variety of clients
  • Implementing best practice network policies and procedures
  • Working on network related incidents and requests
  • Assisting in project work

What we are looking for:
Required skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen interest in learning and working with new IT technologies
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to speak up and ask for help and the ability to engage others in conversation
  • A focus on customer service

Desired experience / skills:

  • Experience providing 1st Line Support
  • Experience managing network infrastructure – Firewalls, Switches
  • Experience supporting VPNs
  • Experience with Windows Server – AD DS, File Shares, GPO

Essential:
Having a full driving licence and your own vehicle is required - as the role involves travelling.

Entry requirements:

  • an A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:
You will have a competitive starting salary at £18,000 - £20,000 per annum.

Working week:
This role will be full time, working 37.5 hours per week in a shift pattern between 7:30am and 6:00pm.
