Our client is a major player in the Transport & Distribution industry. It's a large corporation based in Manchester, employing over 5,000 professionals. The company operates in multiple locations, with an extensive network that covers the United Kingdom.

Description

The In-House Legal Counsel will:

  • Be responsible for overseeing commercial contracts and procurement across a range of sectors including construction, technology, and data.
  • You'll autonomously manage high-value contracts (over £20m+), liaise with senior stakeholders across multiple functions, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Your role will involve drafting, negotiating, and providing strategic advice on commercial agreements that are crucial to the client's operations.
  • Identify legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support the business in ensuring legal compliance in all its operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders on legal matters.
  • Support the training of staff on legal aspects.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to legal matters.

Profile

The successful In-House Legal Counsel should be:

  • A recognised Solicitor / Legal Executive.
  • Strong background in procurement, data, construction, or technology.
  • Proven track record of handling large-scale projects and high-value contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU legislation.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting and communication skills.
  • Ideally experienced in a similar role within the Transport & Distribution industry.
