Nursery Manager

**Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Manager to lead our nursery team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our early years setting. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and education for children aged 0-5 years, fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. This role requires a strong leader with excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of early childhood development, and the ability to manage both the operational and educational aspects of the nursery.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, manage, and inspire the nursery team to deliver outstanding care and education.

  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to staff to maintain high standards.

  • Conduct regular staff meetings and appraisals, ensuring continuous professional development.

  • Operational Management:

  • Oversee the smooth running of the nursery on a daily basis, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.

  • Manage staff schedules, ensuring that appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.

  • Handle any operational challenges effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to the nursery's service.

  • Childcare & Education:

  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality early years curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

  • Support staff in planning and delivering age-appropriate, engaging activities that promote children's development.

  • Monitor and assess the progress of children, ensuring that individual developmental needs are met.

  • Health & Safety:

  • Ensure the nursery is compliant with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments.

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for children, staff, and visitors.

  • Manage any incidents or emergencies, ensuring appropriate action is taken and recorded.

  • Parent & Community Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for parents, building strong relationships and ensuring clear communication.

  • Address parents' concerns and provide regular updates on their child's development.

  • Promote the nursery within the local community, fostering positive relationships with external partners.

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Manage the nursery's budget, including resource allocation and expenditure tracking.

  • Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and any other relevant information.

  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory and organizational standards.

**Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.

  • Significant experience in a leadership role within an early years setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage a team effectively and work collaboratively.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Current DBS check or willingness to undergo one.

  • Desirable:

  • A Level 5 qualification in Early Years Education or Leadership.

  • Experience in managing a nursery during periods of change or growth.

  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
