Location: Red Moor School, Lanlivery

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm

Salary: £22,775.75 per annum

Contract: Permanent; Term time plus 2 weeks

Due to growth in service, we are recruiting for Facilities Assistant to join our amazing team at Red Moor School.

About the role

The Facilities Assistant will perform a variety of regular and one-off tasks and duties as well as maintaining a high standard of security, cleanliness, safety and general maintenance of school buildings, grounds and facilities. The Facilities Assistant will provide practical support in arrangements for meetings/events and to assist in maintaining the security of the school, as directed by the Headteacher.

Main Duties and General Responsibilities:

Site Maintenance -

  • Ensure that the school site is secure and well maintained
  • To act as a keyholder for the site, ensuring security at all times including the operation of alarms
  • Manage the evaluation and monitoring of external contractors
  • Organise and carry out various maintenance and minor decoration along with general repairs to ensure the upkeep, safety and maintenance of the premises
  • Organise and carry out minor improvement work e.g. erecting shelves, notice boards, bookshelves etc as agreed with the Headteacher
  • Ensure that water, lighting and heating/cooling systems are maintained and operated

Essential

  • Experience of undertaking a range of grounds and maintenance work
  • Some knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to the operation of maintenance and grounds equipment
  • Willingness to maintain any area of the school as requested by the Headteacher
  • Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to Equal Opportunities
  • Has an understanding of Health and Safety law and Premises Management

About Us

Red Moor School is an independent special educational needs provision near Bodmin, Cornwall. The school facilitates tailored support for up to 60 pupils aged 5-18 whose needs are predominantly SEMH and ASD related.

The school opened in September 2020 and has recently gone through significant refurbishment to allow our students to further benefit from our fantastic location and creativity of our staff team. The working day can be great fun and varied but can also be challenging.
