Our client a leading transport operator, are seeking a Project Finance Business Partner to provide high-quality forecasting, period-end reporting, and analysis for key projects within the business.

This role is crucial in ensuring that directors and managers have the financial information they need to meet project objectives and support business decision-making. As a Finance Business Partner, you will be a key player in driving financial accountability and supporting business leaders.

This role would suit a recently qualified Accountant with an audit background or a background working in complex multi-stakeholder, fast paced environments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce periodic analytical reporting to meet project area requirements within deadlines, using technology to automate and drive standards and efficiency.
  • Complete high-quality forecasts, budgets, and corporate plans within required deadlines.
  • Provide insight-driven analysis of business activities to improve performance and build budgets and forecasts that consider business performance and strategy.
  • Implement and maintain a continuous improvement strategy and culture.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve profitability through a sound understanding of revenue and cost base.
  • Act as an internal advisor/consultant, sought out by the business for financial guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems/data warehouses (Oracle/TM1).
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the business.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to forge successful and challenging relationships across the business.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial issues to a non-financial audience.
  • Collaborative team-working skills.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and financial modelling skills.

Experience:

  • Significant experience in a commercial financial and planning environment, including time spent in an analytical role in a similar size business.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen with a broad-based view of issues, events, and activities, and an understanding of their longer-term impact or wider implications.
  • Demonstrable ability to assess situations and appropriately prioritise key information and issues.
  • Experience in the rail or similar transport industry is advantageous.
