What it's like to work here

At Corfe Castle, you will be immersed in history and surrounded by breathtaking views every day. Partially demolished by the Parliamentarians in 1646 following their victory, the castle ruins symbolise the profound change brought about by the English Civil War. We're currently undertaking an exciting 3-year, £2 million conservation project, 'Caring for Corfe Castle,' to preserve this special place for generations to come.

You will be part of a close-knit team that welcomes 240,000 visitors a year, working together to ensure everyone has a truly memorable experience in this stunning setting. Reporting to the Experience & Visitor Programming Manager you will collaborate closely with the Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer and Senior Communications & Marketing Officer. You will also line manage a Visitor Experience Officer, and work alongside our dedicated volunteers.

What you'll be doing

As the Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Corfe Castle, you will be at the heart of creating and delivering events that captivate and engage our visitors—from large-scale reenactments to the Festival of Archaeology and our Christmas Lights late-night openings. You will also play a key role in shaping our year-round visitor experience, bringing fresh, audience-led ideas to life and ensure that every detail, from decorations to displays, contributes to the magic.

You will be the voice of Corfe Castle on social media, delivering our strategy and crafting content that not only informs but also inspires. Your role will also include leading on the Visitor Journey Framework, where you will work with teams across the site to ensure that every visitor's experience—from their first glance at our signage to the ease of their access—is as welcoming and inclusive as possible.

You will take on an important leadership role, line managing a Visitor Experience Officer and working closely with local community groups to build partnerships that enrich the visitor experience. Your responsibilities will also include Duty Management and Event Management, requiring weekend work as part of a rota.
