  • Location: Smallfield, Surrey
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Term time only)
  • Salary: £21,995.50 - £23,978.84 (dependent on experience and qualifications) plus £1000 Welcome bonus*
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 8.30am-4.30pm (flexibility required, with one day working until 5pm for staff training and meetings)

We are seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEN secondary school. The role involves implementing Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, ELSA, and Educational Psychologist advised interventions to enable students to fulfil their potential in all aspects of their lives.

**Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work effectively with teachers and key staff, including the SENCo and Management Team, to understand the student and their needs and develop and implement effective interventions both in and outside of lessons.
  • Develop appropriate profiles on all appropriate children with the therapy team.
  • Employ integrated ‘Push in' methods in the classroom, reserving one-to-one sessions for when absolutely necessary.
  • Liaise effectively with teachers, Occupational Therapist, SALT, Educational Psychologist, and the SENCO to ensure best practice throughout the curriculum.
  • Be professionally and legally accountable in relation to KCSIE.
  • Deliver programmes as advised by the therapy team and provide professional support to other Assistants.
  • Engage in relevant training for ongoing professional development.
  • Manage resources on a day-to-day basis and ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and protocols.
  • Maintain regular records of intervention using agreed protocols.

**Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSE pass above grade 4 in English and Maths.
  • Willingness to undertake professional development in therapy psychological skills, knowledge, and understanding.
  • Driving Licence is required.
  • Experience in a specialist setting and/or working with young people in education, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience running interventions with measurable impact is desirable.
  • Knowledge of protection procedures, health and safety procedures, and the roles of other professionals in health, social, and education settings.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and school settings is desirable.
